Itinerary
4 Days in Cape Town, an unforgettable experience
The lavender fields are different every year, so it’s difficult to fix an itinerary in advance. It will depend on what the fields look like this year, what the weather does, etc. However we will spend the first days around Valensole, before to move to the area around Roussillion. The approximate itinerary is as follows:
Day 1 – Meet & greet after 15.00 + Chapman’s Peak
We will meet at your accommodation. Once you’re settled we get our cameras ready and head out to our first sunset shoot. We will drive on Chapman’s Peak which is one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world. We will stop a various points along to road to give you the opportunity to take photos of the bay. Once the sun has sunk below the horizon we slowly get back and we might take a few long exposures along the way now that it’s getting dark. We have dinner together in one of the many restaurants in Houtbay.
Day 2 – Muizenberg + Bokaap + Bloubergstrand
Today we will pick you up before sunrise so we get to Muizenberg in time. We will take photos of the wooden beach houses that have been painted in primary colours. Once we’re satisfied and tried different compositions, we will drive further down the road and walk down to Boulder Beach. Here’s a colony of African penguins that decided in the 1980’s that this beach was the perfect place to call home. Fortunately it’s a National Park now and humans use the elevated wooden boardwalks, so the penguins can pass underneath them. Here we can take out our long lenses see if they want to pose for us…
We’ll have breakfast in Simons Town and head back to the accommodation. You can rest or relax for a while and after lunch we head to Cape Town. We will walk through the Bokaap quarter with its colourful facades.
In the late afternoon we drive to Bloubergstrand to take photos of the waves and the setting sun.
Day 3 – Kirstenbosch + Constantia + 12 Apostles
We pick you up early and we’ll drive to Constantia where we will visit some of the oldest vineyards in the country. The low light makes for beautiful photos with long shadows. Here we will also see the white Cape Dutch architecture which looks beautiful among the green vines.
After breakfast we go through the photos we’ve taken so far and we’ll give you an introduction of what is possible in Lightroom. Taking the photo is only part of the job, we can bring out the best through post-processing with this software.
In the afternoon we go to Kirstenbosch, the beautiful botanical gardens of Cape Town. The Cape Peninsula is home to plants and flowers that only grow in this small angle of the world. The protea is probably the best known flower from this floral kingdom and we will get a few close-ups of the flowers that bloom here.
In the evening we will go to Victoria road and to take photographs of the Twelve Apostles, a series of peaks rising from the ocean.
Day 4 – Cape Point + Lighthouse
We get up early (again?) and go to Llandudno to photograph the distinctive rocks alongside the beach. It won’t be easy to get a nice composition, but there are so many possibilities. After breakfast we have a relaxing morning and we can show you more of Lightroom with your own photos.
Later we go to Cape Point and have a look at the pristine beaches. On the way back we stop in Kommetjie to watch the sunset and after that it’s time to drive back to Houtbay for a last dinner.
What to expect
Are you planning to come to South Africa? Then make sure you don’t miss Cape Town. Affectionately called the Mother City by its inhabitants, it has so much to offer. Since there is a lot to choose from, you need to plan your trip well. If you want to make sure to come back with great photos we have the solution for you. A 3 or 4 day tour where you don’t have to look for all the photo hotspots, because we have done the searching for you.
In these days we will take you around the Cape Peninsula and show you some of the best photo opportunities Cape Town has to offer. From the classical view on Table Mountain to the colourful houses of Bokaap, from the Twelve Apostles to Chapman’s Peak, from the vineyards in Constantia to the penguins on Boulder Beach.
We will not only take you to these locations, but we will assist you with tutoring on photography on location. This will be a great learning experience. We will also reserve time for image review and can introduce you to post-processing of your photos with Adobe’s Lightroom. This way you get feedback on your photos and improve your skills even faster. Bringing your photos to life with post-processing will make them stand out even more.
We can customize this tour to your needs and wishes.

David and Cristina are so entusiastic about Cape Town that we also fell in love with this city. With them we managed to optimize our time and saw all the places we wanted to see. David, the photographer, gave us many tips when taking out photos and we came back home with beautiful photos. He will take you to the right place at the right time, so you will have the best light. A pity there was so much wind on a few days, but we had a great time.

I knew Cape Town was a beautiful city, but this was beyond imagination! The coast is really amazing.
The penguins were so cute! David was very patient and gave me many tips that helped me taking some amazing images during our tour. I can’t wait to see more of South Africa. If you want to go to Cape Town I can recommend taking this photo tour.

I’m a beginner when it comes to photography and David’s mentoring really helped me out. I have learned a lot in a very short time. I was afraid that it might have been difficult to keep up, but David was patient and I feel much more comfortable with my camera now.
Cape Town is really beautiful and David and Cristina know the area very well. It’s a great way to visit Cape Town and to learn more about taking photos!

My photos are so much better after this trip and I came back with really good photos. The post-processing sessions were an eye opener. I was amazed what my photos can look like after the editing!
All in all a perfect four days in Cape Town! I can recommend this to everyone.
